It is known among tourist attractions in Karnataka for its beautiful gardens, gigantic malls, well designed arcades, exotic art galleries, majestic palaces, forts and shrines.

It is the most popular tourist destination in Karnataka. The City is located in the middle of a large tourism hotspot in South India. Also it's pretty close to the tourism attractions of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.



It has been an important port on the Arabian coast for centuries.In the 14th and 15th century, it traded with Persian and Arab merchants. It was a Shipbuilding centre during the reigns of Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan. With Tipu's defeat by the British in 1799, the city was incorporated as the capital of South Kanara district.

The modem port, 10 kms away from the city centre is today India 's 9th largest cargo handling zone and is the major centre for the export of cashew nuts and coffee. The completion of a deep-water port in 1976 coupled with the influx of large industries including petrochemical and power plants has made this city into a bustling metropolis and one of the fastest growing cities of southwest.

Hampi & Hospet

Hampi was once the seat of the great Vijayanagara Empire and centre of Hindu rule for over 200 years from its foundation in 1336. It is one of the most mesmerizing historical sites in South India . Set in a strangely beautiful boulder strewn landscape, the ruins of this ancient city have a magnetism of their own and are awe-inspiring.

Hampi is today a thriving traveler’s destination, and most people stay at least a couple of days to, soak in the atmosphere and explore the area.
